I've been getting this coffee for several years in whole beans. I brew it in a coffee machine that grinds the beans just as it brews. You can't get any fresher than that. It's great. I have a pot of it every day. The only bad thing is that the pot runs dry.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have tried many brands of espresso roasts for quality and costs purposes and I always can't wait until they're used up so that I can return to the Starbuck's espresso roast.

Very good Dark roast

I've enjoyed this roast for about the last 5-6 years. It has always been a wonderful Dark full-bodied roast with a hearty aroma. I don't buy it all the time because I like to drink different roasts with different moods and seasons. But when I want that hearty dark cup, this is definitely the one i reach for....also Sumatra too! I once bought a bag of whole beans of this and they were horrible, just once so I chalk that up to a bad roast, and no, they were not out of date.

We tried another brand. We thought it was alright. We had times we would pick up refills and as of late it was not dark and glossy. The taste was stale. I came back through your on line membership and have been totally satisfied. It is always fresh!

Wonderful, rich flavor that works great for a morning first cup. Surprisingly, I enjoy it more than any other except the Verona blend. Very smooth and full bodied. My new go-to for my first cup!

I've been drinking Espersso Roast since 1996. I ordered it from Seattle, 2lbs every three weeks, until sotres started opening in the southeast. I've tried several brands and this is the best by far.

My wife & I both like dark roasts but we do not own an espresso maker. We have tried most of the dark roast beans and like many of them, but our favorite is the espresso roast ground at a medium setting.

Love the $5 gift card with purchase deal, makes me sad i could only purchase 4 at a time. The espresso roast is the best coffee to put in my espresso machine without that bitter taste. I would only like to see the shipping to be a little faster. However it would not stop me from purchasing again.

Espresso Roast is just the right balance of flavors. The carmel, smokey taste is bold yet does not have any bite to it. I add milk to mine to try copying a Starbuck Latte plain. I wish Starbuck would sell in K-cups the espresso and milk --Latte set as they do in their coffee maker cups..
Yes, I recommend this product.

At our house we start the day with Espresso Roast--both the full-bodied blend and the decaf. Well, you can't imagine the aroma--or can you?
I have discovered that the decaf bean, when freshly ground, is very charged with static electricity, compared to the freshly ground regular Espresso bean. Can someone explain why this might be the case?
Nevertheless, Espresso Roast is such a delight -- decaf or regular!

The Scorched Earth Policy

"Espresso," of course, is a beverage -- not a roast level. You can create perfectly stunning espresso using any kind of coffee from light to dark.
Starbucks, though, tends to roast very darkly (following the practice of their progenitors in the coffee business and of left-coast practice in general). What they call "medium roast" would be dark in most areas of the country. I suppose what is most surprising about this coffee is that it tastes like anything at all, since it is roasted just below the point at which it would become pure carbon.
But in fact, it's reasonably good for dark-roasted coffee -- probably the best you're going to find in any given supermarket. The roast level virtually eliminates the possibility that the coffee will taste sour or bitter (unless you majorly overextract it), but in exchange, you get a coffee that tastes mostly like the roast. You would never do this to an expensive varietal coffee, since the roast level would completely obliterate any complexity the beans might have had. But then, that's not what this is.
Despite the name, I find it a nice coffee to use for pour over methods (or even aeropress). The product is nothing if not consistent, and I think it turns over often enough that you're likely to get coffee within a couple of weeks of it having been roasted.
Yes, I recommend this product.
