I love Starbucks and I love this machine. Two pushes of buttons and I have my own latte - which tastes just like the ones at Starbucks. And if you want to get fancy, you can purchase the syrups and caramels and make any of their signature drinks. Best purchase ever.

I was a bit of a snob about my coffee. I had to grind fresh beans right before I brewed. My aunt was coming to visit my beach condo and asked if I had a Kuerig (sp?) because she loved to make her coffe that way. I read many reviews and decided I would purchase the Verismo. I immediately loved this machine. Great tasting coffee and lattes. I read about people not liking the taste of the milk pods and I know what they meant but it's not so bad. Sometimes I'll add a dash of half and half which really helps.
I purchased a second Verismo for my home and it did not work properly. The espresso and milk brewed properly but the regular coffee did not. It would start out ok but then just went to a drip and took forever and by the time it was done the coffee was cold. I emailed customer service who replied telling me to call them when I was near the machine to troubleshoot. It was determined that my machine needed to be replaced. They sent me a new machine and an email to print a return UPS label. My new machine arrived very quickly and it was very easy to pack the bad machine into the box and simply drop off at UPS store. A few days later they'd received my return and credited my account. They made the process very simple and the new machine works like a charm.
I wish they would sell a nice box to hold the pods. The web site has a wooden and stainless steel looking one pictured but I am not able to find it anywhere.
In my opinion Verismo is a great purchase! Only negative I'd add is that it is very loud when brewing- but I don't mind because I love the coffee!

I would have given this five stars except for the fact that I can't buy coffee pods at Starbucks. I'm very disappointed that I must order the pods online (and pay shipping). Especially when Starbucks sells Keurig everywhere! But I love the coffeemaker -- the coffee is great, plus it's attractive and space-efficient.

For a latte with 2 expresso pods, you only get a small cup for your final drink. Plus the drink wasn't hot enough. Had to use microwave to bring it up to the right temperature.

I bought this for my husband's 50th b-day, and we both love it - he uses it every day. We use the espresso setting twice using the same pod to give us a bit more coffee - I noticed some other reviews thought that tasted watered down but this process seems to work for us.
We don't use the milk pods, I read some reviews and decided to also purchase the separate electric frother which we also love. My husband loves the foam, while I use chocolate almond milk instead of real milk and it's tastes great.
We do prefer espresso pods over the drip coffee pods, but that's just personal taste. Watch out if you use the regular coffee pods as you will need a larger cup. It would be nice if they put on the boxes how many ounces the pods are intended to make.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I purchased this with high expectations. It wouldn't be so bad if it kicked out 3x the amount of expresso but it makes such a tiny amount. Took it back.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the volume of coffee and lattes are very small. Wish I could get a regular mug of coffee without having to brew to pods. Makes it more expensive than it should be.

The serving sizes are unbelievably small. A latte (espresso pod + milk pod) will fill a normal coffee mug about 1/3 of the way. I further decided that instead of having to use four total pods to fill the mug, I would try just running each pod twice. This served to fill the mug, however the flavor was an unsurprisingly poor, watered down, journey of sadness. The milk pods alone (even when only used once) are quite watery and flat tasting. At around 1$ per pod, it's really not worth it to use this machine at all.

The machine is fine but according to the description below this should have had coffee with it but there was none. The machine went to someone in a town that has no Starbucks so it would have been nice to have coffee so she could have used the machine.

I was on the verge of buying a K-cup machine when my wife surprised me and had this sitting on my office desk when I returned from an overseas trip. Full Disclosure: My wife used to work for Starbucks Corporation for many years and we became full supporters of their products and their coffee. Nevertheless, having used many high quality K-cup machines I can say that I was never disappointed with the cup of coffee/tea/hot cocoa that those machines produced. However, while some of the Starbucks K-cups were quite tasty, they never quite matched the flavor and heat of what we get from a Barista in the store.
Enter the Verismo. My intial reaction to the machine was "Sweet! What an awesome wife and what a cool toy for the office!". Once I took it out of the box, I noticed how much smaller it was than the K-cup machine down the hall. I also noted its clean lines and aesthetically pleasing appearance with the water resevoir in the back of the machine. I was provided Verona ground coffee pods and the Latte espresso/milk pods for my initial foray into the world of Verismo instant coffee. Granted the comparative cost of the pods is slightly higher than the mass produced K-cups, but as we have all experienced in some form or another, you pay for what you get. For the extra 17 cents, I'll go with the Verismo Pods. Here's why:
Taste is a personal subject and an individual choice. While some may not like the Verismo Latte pods as compared to what they have been drinking from other machines, the advice is simple: go back to your other machine. On that note, before my wife purchased the product, she asked the Barista to demonstrate it and produce a latte and a routine cup of coffee. Given her discerning (and trained) taste, she was satisfied that the latte pods produced sufficient froth and flavor for an instant machine. As she has said many times before, if you want 'real' latte flavor and froth, then go to the store. The cup of coffee was as close to the real COD as you could get in the store or through a drip machine.
Okay, enough of her opinion, here's mine. I set the machine up and flushed it 5 times as directed in the manual. I was surprised at how rapidly the heating element achieved ready status. I then fired up a milk pod followed by the espresso pod. Watching the milk fill the cup was rather satisfying since is had some heat and some decent froth (not cappucino froth mind you, just a good healthy froth). I lifted the lever, watched the milk pod fall into the collection chamber (cool!) and then insterted the espresso pod. When all was complete, I was ready to test the final product with some trepidation. My immediate feedback was "hmmm, good latte, nice coffee flavor with some instant milk flavor that reminds me of the lattes I have had overseas". Definitely not store quality, but then again, it's a heck of a lot better than nothing at all. I don't take sugar in my lattes, so perhaps a little sugar would soften the instant milk flavor a bit. The next time I made a latte, I pressed the espresso button a second time and that was enough to add more coffee flavor and negate the instant milk flavor.
I then when full tilt and brewed a regular Verona coffee. Here is the big difference between the Verismo and the K-cups; the Verismo coffe pods have their own filter (you can see it when you remove the protective foil). After one sip, I thought, "wow, nice and hot, This really tastes like brewed coffee vice the reconstituted coffee of a K-cup". As you would expect from a Starbucks product, the flavor was full and delicious. I have pounded my way through gallons of coffee in my lifetime and this 'instant' cup was as good as any freshly brewed Starbucks grind. I am completely sold on the Verismo and will report back in a few months regarding reliability, sustainability, and variety/quality of pods.
While I will not shun my colleague's K-cup machine since I still think that system produces a good cup of joe, I will probably visit the K-cup less frequently now that I have this swanky machine in my office. If you are looking for a new flavor in instant coffee that is robust and near the real deal, I would strongly encourage you to save a few more coins and purchase the Verismo.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Best Machine I've Ever Owned

I've owned a really nice espresso machine & a Keurig before buying the Verismo. The espresso machine was nice, but a lot of work and I never could get a consistently good espresso. I tried the Keurig and it broke down after one year. I never was fond of the lattes I made using the Keurig anyway, so I didn't even bother contacting Keurig for a replacement.
I tried the Verismo at a Starbucks retail location before I purchased it. The barista who demoed the machine for me made me my latte behind the counter and using the machine. I honestly could not tell the difference. She did the same for me with an iced latte (the drink I normally order). I still could not tell the difference.
I'm very happy with my Verismo. It's simple to use and very convenient to have in the kitchen even though I live only a mile from my nearest Starbucks. It's also very easy to clean up.
There are three things that keep me from giving the Verismo five stars. One, it seems to leak a lot. I'm not sure why it leaks or if it's supposed to leak, but I often find coffee on my countertop coming from under the machine. I intend to ask at the Starbucks retail location if that's to be expected. Not a huge deal, but it means more cleaning up. Two, the water reservoir could be bigger. I suppose it probably is bigger on the other model, and may be worth the upgrade if that's the case. It seems like I'm forever refilling the machine. And three, occasionally the pod will fall through the opening into the machine before I have a chance to push down the lever and pull the shot. It's an easy fix, though, because all I have to do is open the part where the coffee comes out, reach in and grab the pod and put it back through. I've never had it fall through more than once.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I received a Verismo Brewer as a gift at Christmas. After about a month it would not properly brew coffee. The water would barely trickle through the pods. I reported this problem to Verismo, and was able to receive a replacement. I was required to buy a second system, and promised a reimbursement by returning the system I owned to them. The replacement system, which I received about 10 days ago is no better. I am very disappointed with this system. It appears to have a design flaw. It seems that perhaps it does not properly perforate the pods(?). The water flows properly when I rinse the system and when I use the milk pods, but not when I use a coffee pod or an espresso pod. I don't know if I should request another replacement or ask for a refund. I was excited when I received this system because I am a fan of Starbucks coffee. In the past , I always bought my coffee at Starbucks and had it ground for my coffee maker. I do enjoy being able to brew lattes and coffee using the pods I purchase even though it is somewhat more expensive. However, as I stated, I am very disappointed in the quality of this system. I do not know anyone who has purchased this system, so I have no comparison, but I don't believe that I could be the only one experiencing this problem. What do you suggest? I would appreciate your feedback

I go to Starbucks at least once a day so I was excited to get a Verismo machine. My first problem with the machine is the size of the drinks. I always get lattes and using one milk pod and one espresso pod gave me about half of a mug. It looked smalled than a tall if you were to go to the stores. So i had to double up on the pods. My second problem is this does not taste anything like going and getting a fresh latte. The taste is completely different so I do not understand how people can say it taste just like going to Starbucks. Next if you want a flavored latte well you have to buy the syrups separate. So after spending money on the machine, the espresso pods, the milk pods, and the syrups the end result is disappointing. This was a great idea but the execution left alot to be desired.

I purchased the Verismo 580 December 2012. I have to say that my Verismo lattes are just as good as those at Starbucks and less expensive. I was making so many lattes that I returned the 580 and purchased the 585 which has a larger water tank, water filter and additional digital buttons. I have been making lattes for years and was very concerned that the pods would not have the same quality as fresh ground coffee beans. The pods are excellent! It is a little more expensive to make coffee with the pods but for a busy person the pods are quick and very little cleanup. I have a small kitchen and the style of the Verismo fits nicely under the counter with room to spare. I get three sometimes four shots from one pod (I like really strong coffee) which reduces the price per drink quite a bit. The milk pods are okay but I prefer soy milk. I purchased the Starbucks milk frother which does a great job. However, I have learned that not all brands of soy milk do not froth the same. The brand I now use froths beautifully. I enjoyed my Verismo so much that I bought three and gave as family Christmas gifts. Now, I'm going to buy another as a birthday gift. I definitely would recommend the Verismo. I do clean my regularly as the directions suggest.
